During the "Iron Swords" war, the construction sector in Israel faced significant challenges due to a labor shortage. The ban on the entry of Palestinian workers, who constitute a crucial part of the workforce in this industry, created an urgent need to bring in additional foreign workers.
The escalating crisis in the construction sector prompted the Israel-Romania Chamber of Commerce to take action to renew the bilateral agreement signed between the governments of Israel and Romania for employing Romanian construction workers in Israel. In the process of recruiting construction workers from Romania, the Chamber will assess the professional selection procedures to ensure the quality of the workers and prevent problematic issues related to relevant payments, health and safety standards, and employment practices.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Gideon Fisher, emphasized that the implementation of the agreement will reduce construction time, improve supply, and have a positive impact on housing prices.
